Charles McBurney, partner at Harris Guidi Rosner P.A., was unanimously elected yesterday as the Chair-Elect and Secretary for the Southern Region of the Commercial Law League of America.
Formed in 1895, the Commercial Law League of America is the nation’s oldest and largest legal network of attorneys, agency forwarders, and creditors’ rights practitioners. The Southern Region is the largest region in the Commercial Law League of America.
McBurney primarily practices law in the areas of business litigation and transactions, including creditors’ rights, contracts, and commercial collections.
For over 25 years, McBurney has achieved the highest rating among his peers for ethics and competency (“AV”) and is listed in the Bar Register of Prominent Lawyers. Among other Bar activities, McBurney was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court to be on the Florida Innocence Commission and the Access to Civil Justice Commission. McBurney has also served on the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission and the Federal Judicial Advisory Commission.
McBurney was also a member of the Florida House of Representatives, where, among other leadership positions, he was Chair of the Judiciary Committee, which is the House committee overseeing changes to civil and criminal law. Among the legislation he sponsored that became law was the substantial revision to the laws regarding limited liability companies.
