PREMISES LIABILITY
There are a few things you need to do in order to protect you claim if you are injured in a slip and fall accident on someone else’s property. The first, and most important, is to document the scene of the fall immediately after you regain your faculties. Owners and property managers owe you a duty to keep their premises in a safe condition to avoid accidents like yours. Creating a dangerous condition can come in many forms including there is a foreign substance on the floor, faulty stairs, poor flooring, or having a rickety chair. Whatever created the dangerous condition that caused you to fall, take pictures of it. Virtually everyone has cellular phones these days which are equipped with high definition cameras, if you do not have one, ask a witness.
The second is to file an incident report at the facility where your accident occurred. Filing an incident report with the facility will put the facility and its’ owners and managers on notice that you were injured because of the dangerous condition which caused your injuries.
The third is to seek medical treatment. It is equally important to document your injuries as soon as possible. Many times, one may not know what to do or who to call in this situation. I have represented hundreds of individuals, like yourself, who have been injured because of someone else’s negligence. If this has happened to you, call Jerry Snider at 904-777-7777.
