Can I Speed Up My Social Security Application?

December 16, 2017 by Harris Guidi Rosner

Claimants for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits are facing record-long waits to receive their benefits. Unfortunately, due to a lack of Social Security Administration (SSA) resources, there is not much that can be done to speed up the process. However, there are certain situations that, if they apply to you, have the potential to cut down your wait time.

One such situation is if you have severe financial difficulty and are living with family members or friends, or are forced to live out of your vehicle or in a shelter. If you have such financial restraints, there is a way to submit evidence of such hardship and request an expedited hearing.

Wounded veterans are also provided an avenue to have their case expedited, as are Claimants with terminal illnesses.

Given the long process, we always encourage our clients to apply for disability benefits as soon as they are unable to engage in any substantial gainful activity. While our team at Harris Guidi Rosner. P.A. will do everything we can to ensure you get the benefits you are entitled, you can help your case by beginning the process as soon as possible and maintaining contact with your doctors.
